Democracy Checkup Surveys

Many questions asked in the CES are about parties, politicians and attitudes. During election periods, these attitudes are likely clearer and shaped by the need to decide how to vote. We do not know how or whether attitudes towards political institutions change in the inter-election period, or when change that is observed from one election to the next occurs.

The Consortium on Electoral Democracy (C-Dem) is conducting Democracy Checkup (DC) surveys annually in order to address these challenges. These surveys include core CES questions as well as a variety of timely measures of political and social attitudes.
