C-Dem Provincial and Territorial Election Studies
Canadians are governed by two constitutionally entrenched levels of government, with separate responsibilities and domains but no clear hierarchy between them. Research into the factors and attitudes that matter for elections in each context is limited by the availability of comparable data. The Consortium on Electoral Democracy (C-Dem) is running studies of provincial elections between 2020 and 2023 that mirror the format of the CES. Many CES questions are repeated, and some province- and election-specific ones are also included in each study. These rich studies can facilitate more rigorous comparison between provincial contexts and across levels of government, as well as allow for analysis of the specific provincial election.
